FAQ

  • What is included in the price of the trip?
The price includes use of all tackle (you may bring your own rod and reel, if you prefer).
At the end of your trip all fish will be cleaned and packaged for you. There will be an ice chest on board the boat with ice in it that you may put your snacks and drinks in (no bottles, please).
  • Does the boat have a bathroom?
No, I do have alternative methods for female passengers and I do not mind returning to the dock during the day, if it is more comfortable for you.
  • What should I bring with me on the boat?
A Texas Fishing License with a saltwater stamp, appropriate clothing for the weather, non-slip shoes, food and drinks, camera, hat, sunglasses and sunblock.
  • What kind of boat do you have and is it safe for my family?
I have a 22 ft. HydraSport tunnel hull boat with 150 hp. Yamaha four stroke engine. The boat is equipped with all U.S. Coast Guard required safety gear and a first aid kit. I carry a cell phone and a VHF radio on board for emergency communication. I will give you a safety briefing before departing the dock, so that you know where everything is.
  • Do we still fish on rainy days?
Yes, some of my best catches have been on rainy days. Weather cancellations are up to the Captain. If we have to cancel because of the weather you will be given the option of rescheduling your trip or recieving a full refund of your deposit. Please understand that I do make my living on the water, but safety must be my number one priority. If I think that the weather is dangerous, we will not go out or we will return to the dock early.
  • I want to bring my kids fishing, how old do they have to be to fish on your boat?
I have had kids as young as 5 years old fishing on my boat. I do sugest that you consider a half day trip when fishing with younger children, because they will tire quickly in the salt air. I also suggest that we fish for "What's Biting". My experience with kids (including my own two girls) has been that they need to catch as many fish as possible. It does not matter what species of fish they catch and you should let them enjoy the day and leave them wanting more.
  • How are gratuities handled with fishing quides?
Just like other service industries gratuities are never expected, but greatly appreciated. If your captain did a good job and made your day more enjoyable you might consider rewarding his efforts. 15% - 20% is standard.
